You are correct: there is no archaeological evidence for the existence of Jesus either; it is why I do not believe in him. You see, evidence does in fact matter. There is evidence for many historical figures, even many ancient ones.

Hi Nicole — while I understand your point about archaeological evidence, historical figures, and the belief systems that shape our world, I have to disagree with you on the concrete nature of “evidence”. In my 41 years of living and raising 5 children, the only thing I know for certain is that there is no certainty, because I’ve watched all the best laid plans, arguments, and man-made systems crumble in the story I have lived. I have needed to learn to float with the tides of life, and somewhere on that journey of surrender, I found Mary Magdalene—call her a woman or archetype or consciousness or idea, but she represents everything I wasn’t told, and the fragments that bring her “presence” to life have helped me make sense of this “other” way of navigating “the unknowing” where each moment offers a choice that shapes my reality from either fear or from love. It is the latter choice that brought me here to The Magdalene Thread with Kelly, where we are bringing the conversations we’ve long quietly had about all the mysteries of life and faith to light. If Magdalene is a rose, we hold her lightly, well understanding there are thorns on the stem of such a potent flower. If you listen in to our podcasts, and read all of our articles, I’m certain you will gather this, and know that our intention is not to tell anyone what to believe (or not) but to offer possibilities while maintaining respect for the multitude of belief systems that have long existed. To understand where we’ve come from and why we are here offering this work that is nothing short of a calling, you might take interest in our personal Substack pages. Kelly has a gift for asking the big hard questions and offering answers through the lens of a courageous historian who is untethered by lines of convention. I sense you would like her work called “Ancient Future Heart”: https://kellyingraham.substack.com/s/ancient-future-heart

Then, there is a line in one of my pieces that speaks to the point in my “Magdalenian” journey where surrender transmuted into transcendence and everyday magic. If that calls to you, read on here:

Hi there! Yes, there is no archeological evidence for the existence of Jesus Christ, or many other figures in history. Even if Mary is solely an archetype, her legacy, teachings in the Gospel of Mary, and legend have powerful teachings for us around truth, sovereignty, and love, in our opinion.
